Today I’m in Dallas at DFW airport in between a flight from Buenos Aires, Argentina to my home in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. With a 3 hour layover in business class, I head to the nearest American Airlines lounge near my boarding gate in concourse B. To my surprise my ticket gave me access to the new upgraded American Airlines Flagship Lounge. Of course it’s located in another Concourse D, but with hours to kill I take the train and it’s conveniently located right near the train and gate 22.
You know this a special place because you are greeted at the door with Piper Heidsieck champagne! Then there is a large self service wine and champagne bar!

Then in this same area there is a self service liquor bar. 2 food stations and even chef prepared omelettes.

As you can see from the menu that changes daily, there are some unique sections that are prepared fresh and in smaller quantities keeping things more fresh.
Lots of different seating areas like counter height bar stools, tables and dining chairs, computer work stations and the usual casual loungers. Then it’s very long with great tarmac views whilst providing some quiet areas as well.

Even a first class dining room is available for certain types of passengers on certain routes that is open from 12pm to 8pm every day. The use of the 6 showers are a nice touch and with my extra time and 11 hour flight from Buenos Aires, I took advantage of the opportunity!

American Airlines did a nice job with these Lounges and even the upgraded napkins are personalized! Right now it looks like only 4 of these exist and I have had the pleasure of being in 2 so far. Located in Chicago (ORD), Dallas (DFW), Miami (MIA) and Los Angeles (LAX) I hope you get a chance to experience the as well!
